I’m excited to share something I’ve been working on—my very own Pizza Dough Calculator. This tool is the result of years of hands-on pizza-making, trial and error, and recipe tweaking.
The calculator is designed to help home bakers and pizza enthusiasts create the perfect dough every time. It’s dynamic and user-friendly, adjusting automatically based on the inputs you provide. You can calculate recipes in several ways: by total flour weight, weight per pizza ball, hydration percentage, or number of pizzas. Whether you’re making a single pie for yourself or scaling up for a party, the tool ensures consistent results.
Also, you can print the recipe as PDF, although the layout is still in the test phase.
One of the most useful features is the ability to experiment with hydration levels—the ratio of water to flour in your dough. This can drastically affect your crust’s texture, chewiness, and crispness. Want a light, airy crust or a crisp Neapolitan-style base? Just tweak the hydration percentage and see how the ingredients adjust instantly.
The calculator is built using Python and the Streamlit framework, making the web app clean, responsive, and fast. It works smoothly on both desktop and mobile browsers, so you can use it right in the kitchen on your phone or tablet.
For those interested in the technical side, the full source code is available on GitHub. Developers and curious home bakers are welcome to explore the code, fork the project, or suggest improvements. The project is open-source, and I’m always happy to get feedback from the community.
